University of California, Davis

The University of California, Davis has expertise and world-class assets in metabolomics, food science, nutrition, and clinical research. The Land Grant campus is home to the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CAES), which ranks first in the world for teaching and research in the field of agriculture, and first in the U.S. for food science and nutrition. UC Davis is also home to the internationally recognized West Coast Metabolomics Center, with extensive expertise in the generation, curation, and analysis of metabolomics data. The USDA/ARS Western Human Nutrition Center (WHNRC), located on the UC Davis campus, has a wealth of infrastructure including a research kitchen, clinical trials staff, live-in facilities, and biospecimen collection/storage, which allows for highly controlled studies of unparalleled scope and depth.

Dr. Slupsky is a world-renowned leader in metabolomics and data integration. She has pioneered new techniques in metabolomics since 2003, developing the Chenomx software for analyzing NMR-based metabolomics data that is used by thousands of researchers worldwide. She has spent 15 years developing biomarkers using metabolomics techniques and has expanded her repertoire into systems biology where she has substantial experience with analyzing transcriptomics, proteomics, and 16S sequencing and integrating with metabolomics data. Dr. Slupsky’s research field is at the nexus of food, nutrition, and health, and she has extensive experience studying both food and food components as well as their impacts on health. Dr. Slupsky has more than 130 publications to date, and has managed small and large teams both in industry and in academia.
